Pelvic health is an important part of overall wellbeing and can be affected by pregnancy, childbirth, hormonal changes, and aging. These changes may lead to symptoms such as pelvic pressure, a vaginal bulge, or bladder and bowel concerns.

Pelvic organ prolapse is common and varies in severity. Management is individualized and often does not require surgery. At Lakeside Women’s Health, we provide comprehensive assessment and conservative, non-surgical management of pelvic organ prolapse, including pessary care, education, and ongoing support—helping you maintain comfort, function, and quality of life.

Stephanie MacGowan MScN, NP-PHC

Lakeside Women’s Health was founded to address the need for accessible, coordinated, and compassionate women’s health services — care that is often experienced as fragmented or time-limited. This is a dedicated women’s health practice where concerns are heard, explored thoughtfully, and approached using evidence-informed clinical standards.

I am a Nurse Practitioner with over nine years of experience in primary health care, with a focused clinical interest in women’s health across the lifespan, from adolescence through post-menopause. My work includes comprehensive evaluation and care related to menstrual irregularities, vulvar conditions, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, mood-related concerns, and perimenopause and menopause.

I have completed additional training in contraception care,  including subdermal implant and intrauterine device (IUD) insertions, as well as endometrial biopsy procedures. I have also pursued specialized training in menopause management and pelvic health, including conservative prolapse support and pessary fitting.

I am committed to providing respectful, patient-centred care in an environment where women feel informed, supported, and confident in their health decisions at every stage of life.

Important Information

Lakeside Women’s Health operates as a private consultative clinic.

Services provided reflect extended consultation time, pelvic health expertise, and individualized education and support. This clinic does not replace publicly funded primary care.

Clients should continue routine cervical screening, diagnostic testing, and medically necessary care through their primary care provider or the public health system as appropriate.

Services Offered

Please note:

Nurse Practitioners are regulated primary care providers in Ontario; however, current provincial funding and billing models do not allow Nurse Practitioner–led clinics to bill the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) directly. This gap in access means services at Lakeside Women’s Health are offered on a private-pay basis. Receipts are provided, and some services may be reimbursable through extended health benefits.
